Cleveland – At The Cleveland Institute of Art, the members of the faculty do more than inspire and educate the next generation of artists. They themselves are practicing artists and leaders in their fields. The Cleveland Institute of Art is proud to offer the community the opportunity to see brand-new work created by our faculty at this year’s Faculty Exhibit.

"This year's exhibition will show, again, why the Cleveland Institute of Art is a leader in contemporary art and design with new works by Sarah Kabot, Julie Langsam, Christian Wufflin, Kasumi, Dan Cuffaro, and the rest of the faculty,” says Bruce Checefsky, the Director of Reinberger Galleries.

The show will open with a free reception, open to the public, on Friday September 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. The show will run from September 5 through October 5 in The Reinberger Galleries. The Galleries are open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Galleries are closed Sundays and Mondays. There is no charge to view the exhibit.

We are very pleased this year to welcome new faculty to our already impressive roster of internationally recognized artists and designers including artists-in-residence Luca Buvoli, Curtis Mitchell, and Sara Rabinowitz,” Checefsky says.

The exhibit will feature a broad range of work in many diverse disciplines, reflecting the myriad interests and talents represented in the CIA faculty. New works of craft, visual art, technology, design and integrated media will be included.

"From the political to the humorous, abstract paintings and textile constructions to films and animation, sustainability and green issues, there’s something for everyone in the 2008 Faculty Show. Visitors will have the opportunity to see first hand the animation of Megan Ehrhart and Scott Liogon’s films, as well as Sara Rabinowitz’s collaborative cloth projects and abstract paintings by Sara Sutton,” says Checefsky.

The Reinberger Galleries are located at 11141 East Boulevard. For directions are other information, please visit www.cia.edu or call 216.421.7407.
