Toshiko Takaezu: In Remembrance

Ceramist and former CIA professor Toshiko Takaezu dies at 88.

Toshiko Takaezu, an internationally renowned ceramist and former faculty member at the Cleveland Institute of Art, died on March 9, 2011 in Honolulu.

Ms. Takaezu taught at the Institute in the mid-1950s and ’60s. Her artwork spanned ceramics, fiber pieces, bronzes, and paintings, but she was most known for her ceramic work, which was instrumental in establishing ceramics as a fine art.
