Pre-College Program 2011: Success!

Each summer, creative high-schoolers from around the country come to CIA's two-week Pre-College Program in art and design.

Fifty-four high school students from fourteen states experienced a taste of art school life this summer at CIA—and they loved it!

Parents Joyce and Tim Dever shared their thanks with CIA for this program. “Our sincere gratitude to you and your staff for providing Megan with this amazing experience,” they said. “She was challenged and felt very proud of her final work. This was also an excellent experience for her growth and maturity in so many ways. She is looking forward to taking more classes at CIA. The final gallery exhibition was incredible—so much talent and creativity from so many young artists!”

During this two-week residential Pre-College Program, students choose one class in which to focus—this year’s options included Animation, Digital Imaging, Exploring Identity through Print + Enamel, Hip-Hop Color, Foundation in Art + Design, Industrial Design, and Interior Design. Working with CIA faculty and alumni, the students delved into their area of interest and created many new pieces of work for their portfolios while earning three college credits and lifelong friendships.

We hope and anticipate seeing many of these students at CIA again as the Pre-College Program has yielded 12.5% matriculation in past years.

If you know a high school student contemplating a career in art and design, please let them know about CIA’s Pre-College Program. Our 2012 Pre-College Program will be held July 8–21, 2012! Get the details at cia.edu/precollege.
