Foundation in 3D Art + Design

Get a look at some of the practices explored during CIA’s Foundation year while enhancing your portfolio through an exploration of three-dimensional form.

This introductory course will cover a variety of traditional and nontraditional sculptural processes and materials, including additive and reductive carving, foam and plaster modeling, armature construction and surface treatment.

Working representationally or abstractly, you will create a finished tabletop sculpture. You will learn to use state-of-the-art equipment in our fabrication studios, gain a better understanding of the history of sculpture, and explore the fundamental concepts and theories of 3D artwork that will help push your work to the next level.
