Visiting Artists

CIA’s Visiting Artist Program and Lunch on Fridays series are important vehicles that link CIA students to the larger artistic community. From classroom critiques to question-and-answer opportunities, students learn from nearly 80 artists annually who share their path to success.

Visiting Artists Program

Through this program, students benefit from the extensive network of professional partnerships that CIA faculty foster each year. The Visiting Artist Program extends the classroom by:

  • inviting practicing artists and their work into the CIA's classrooms and studios
  • exploring culturally diverse perspectives
  • encouraging collaborative dialogue among CIA’s majors
  • responding to the creative challenges from students, faculty, alumni, and the greater Cleveland cultural community.

Through two dedicated funds, the George P. Bickford Visiting Artist Fund and the Louis D. Kacalieff Visiting Artists + Scholars Endowment, CIA supports the continued practice of providing free and open dialogue on creative issues to students and the community.

Lunch on Fridays Lecture Series

Spend your lunch hour learning a little more about the world of art and design at CIA’s Lunch on Fridays (LOF). Free and open to the public, these informal lectures begin at 12:15pm and feature a variety of artists and designers from around the world, including our own CIA faculty. This series is jointly sponsored by the CIA Liberal Arts and Foundation departments.
